Advertised Job Summary:The Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences (DDBS) at the College of Pharmacy, University of South Carolina (UofSC), is seeking a research technician to conduct research in Dr. Jun Zhu's laboratory on ongoing NIH-funded research projects to study the underlying mechanisms of HIV-1 infection associated neurocognitive disorders.The successful candidate is expected to perform research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. The duties are to conduct cell culture and pharmacological assays to characterize the in vitro pharmacological profile of the human vesicular monoamine transporter (VMAT2), its mutants, and to test compounds to identify optimized probe molecules using cell based expressing human VMAT2. In addition, the candidate is expected to assist with other ongoing experiments, maintain the laboratory instruments, follow lab safety, and assist with lab cleaning/organizing. Candidates should be motivated to conduct neuropharmacology research and work well within a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:Successful candidates should have a bachelor's degree in biomedical science or previous experience with the respective expertise in research laboratory is desirable.
