Blue Cross Blue Shield of MI (BCBSM) is looking for an IT Network & Voice Engineering Technical Lead within our IT Service Engineering team.

Our department provides critical engineering and operations for network, telephony, and call center infrastructure support to the entire BCBSM enterprise. The Engineer Lead will have responsibility for planning, implementing, and supporting network and voice infrastructure components within Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and its subsidiaries.

The list below includes our departmental preferences. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience relative to designing, implementing, and supporting these in-scope technologies.

  • Cisco Nexus core datacenter network infrastructure
  • LAN/WAN routing and switching
  • Aruba and Cisco based WiFi
  • Checkpoint Firewalls
  • InfoBlox IPAM
  • Netskope Internet Proxy
  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express
  • Cisco Webex Unified Communications Suite

Additional aspects of the role may include:

Design, build, test, implement, maintain, and optimize the network, telecommunications, desktop, and mobility system infrastructure and operations. Monitor and optimize the performance of operating systems and applications. Diagnose system failures and take corrective action. Use strong client service orientation to ensure all requests and problems are resolved. Coordinate and work on multiple cross-functional initiatives and projects as a technical lead or advisor. Develop/build highly complex systems that may have system-wide impact, integrate across the organization, and involve multiple technical environments and disciplines.
  • Lead the design and implementation of security solutions. Ensure the integrity of host computers, multiple databases and secure data transfer. Direct efforts to demonstrate that information systems are compliant with appropriate corporate policies, industry standards, government regulations, and contractual requirements. Identify discrepancies resulting from security audits, develops plans for corrective actions and tracks actions to closure.
  • Establish requirements, methods and procedures for routine maintenance.
  • Lead the development of contingency plans including reliable backup and restore procedures. Identify business continuity/disaster recovery risks and mitigation plans.
  • Develop SLAs for external relationships.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred.
  • 7 years of relevant IT work experience required.
  • Relevant certification is required.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of broad range hardware and software products.

  • Ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing environments
  • Written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with system users and other technical colleagues.
