The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technical Assistant is an integral part of the IR team assisting the physicians, nurses, and technical staff in maintaining the workflow and efficiency of Interventional procedures. The IR Technical Assistant performs duties associated with room turnover, patient movement, stocking of rooms, and performance of exams for both the Interventional Radiology and Interventional Nephrology (IN) programs. The IR Technical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the IR Supervisor who reports to the Radiology Program Manager and Director of Radiology. The IR Technical Assistant at the discretion and under the supervision of the IR team, assist with certain non-skilled tasks associated with IR procedures. Work requires 12-16 weeks orientation to become proficient in routine workflow, supplies, and specific duties of various procedures in the IR and IN suites.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Breaking down equipment and supplies at the competion of a case
  • Cleaning equipment and tables using approved cleaning products and procedures.
  • Gathers, transports and properly disposes of trash, soiled linen and contaminated materials, per policy.
  • Adheres to cleaning processes related to special situations (patient on contact precautions such as C-Diff).
  • Prepares room for next case by pulling supplies, preparing linens,attaching devices to tables that assist with patient positioning.
  • Maintains the scrub sink areas
  • Consistently conducts inventory and stocking of sani-wipes and supplies in designated areas.
  • Restock warmers with sheets, blankets, gowns, pillow cases and irrigation solutions.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent- required
  • Must be able to read, and understand English for purpose of communication and carrying out written assignments.
  • Hospital experience preferred but not required
  • Work requires intense physical effort, walking long distances, lifting patients, lifting heavy supplies and equipment, pushing carts and beds
