POSITION SUMMARY
Teaching load is 3/3 (classes capped at 19 students), plus honors thesis mentoring and other efforts in support of student success. Our faculty typically teach a section of the Fall semester freshman seminar, Acquisition of Knowledge: Interdisciplinary Inquiry and Practical Wisdom. The faculty member will join a small faculty cohort of interdisciplinary scholars, housed in a state-of-the-art new building featuring music, material arts, and cooking studio space available for teaching use: https://fleischmangarcia.com/judy-genshaft-honors-college-at-usf/. DUTIES
The Judy Genshaft Honors College at the University of South Florida seeks a full-time Assistant Professor of Instruction (non-tenure track) in the field of Humanities and Fine Arts for the Tampa campus. The area of specialization is open, but representative disciplines may include music, visual art, theater, digital arts, creative writing, or the study of any of these topics (e.g., Humanities, Art History, Critical Cultural Studies, etc.). We are particularly interested in individuals whose experiences and/or academic training has equipped them to put theory into practice to develop extra-organizational relationships and active learning opportunities with our local arts community.

Applicants should be invested in creative pedagogy and curriculum development, experiential learning, and community engagement. Applicants will ideally have experience teaching high-ability students, and be comfortable working in a liberal arts setting that fosters faculty collaboration and student engagement both inside and outside the classroom. Highly desired is an ability to lead students in fieldwork, both in the local community and/or abroad. We highly encourage applicants with diverse backgrounds and/or candidates whose teaching itself focuses on issues related to diversity and/or social justice.

Qualifications (Education and Experience)

Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrable effectiveness as a teacher at the university level; demonstrable experience with high-ability students; ability to communicate disciplinary interests within a liberal arts curriculum; preparedness to engage students from a range of majors (from Engineering to Dance, Biomedical Sciences to History) with course content; evidence of community engagement in teaching or practice; interest in historically and cross-culturally informed teaching and/or research; interest in, or familiarity with, theories that facilitate interdisciplinary teaching. Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.

Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree is strongly preferred.
