The Information Technology Department at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is looking for self-motivated student interns to work in a dynamic, leading-edge environment that provides learning and skill development opportunities spanning a wide range of information technology areas including, infrastructure engineering, data and software engineering, mobile and web development, application and desktop support, data analytics, and IT quality assurance, etc. Our co-op program gives you the rewarding experience of working in a healthcare environment where your work directly impacts the ability of Roswell's staff to provide care for its patients.

Specific co-op positions include:

• Programmer/Analyst Application Support - Participates on a technology team in support of the technical and data management needs for clinical, research, and enterprise operations and project- based initiatives, Contributes to the design, development, testing, and ongoing support of technology solutions (vendor-based and in-house developed).
o Confers with user departments, vendors, and Information Technology team to develop requirements, application functionality, develops prototypes, creates documentation.
o Integrates disparate systems via API, web services, HL7 interface etc.
o Queries, creates reports, manages data sets, provides back-end database management.
o Configures, codes, debugs, tests, and documents efforts, monitors configuration/code execution and initiates modifications as needed; resolves production errors, re-tests corrected code/configuration to ensure quality output.

• Software Engineering - Participating in the design, development, integration, testing, deployment and support of technology systems. Examples include web-based tools to support clinical operations and improve the patient experience, automation of manual processes, workflow optimization, and custom dashboards.
o Typical Tech Stacks: LAMP (Linux, Apache, MariaDB, PHP), JavaScript, Microsoft Power Platform, docker

• Infrastructure Engineering - Design, build, enhance, and integrate the technology infrastructure required to support various platforms leveraging expertise with application technology, system/database configuration, tools, and existing designs. This includes.....
o Typical Tech Stacks: campus routing and switching, enterprise wireless networks, voice over IP PBX, LAN administration, firewall support, load balancing hardware and software administration, Linux/Windows Server/Mac Administration, VMWare

• Data Engineer - Creating and maintaining next generation data warehouses and analytics environments, developing data models, writing scripts for data integration and analyze, consult on high impact data or data management issues
o Typical Tech Stacks: Relational databases (MariaDB, MS SQL Server), SQL, PHP, PowerBI data marts, ETL Processes

• IT QA Test Automation Engineer - Works closely with the business and IT teams to understand the business requirements for the application under test. Gains in depth knowledge for how the application is used by the business to design and develop high impact and low-cost automated test scripts. The Test Automation Engineer strives to ensure IT deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and stability. Acts as the system administrator for IT Quality Assurance tools including Micro Focus ALM and creates dashboards and reports tracking the testing progress for Roswell Parks most critical technology projects.

• Service Desk Technician - Coordinates projects; assists in the use and support of personal computer installations; implements projects as directed; analyzes, diagnoses and resolves personal computer hardware, operating system, or general application software installation problems; coordinates internal and external staff and equipment to insure timely and accurate installations; identifies needs and assesses the scope of projects. Primary duties include - The installation and repair of personal computers, operating systems and related equipment and the appropriate software as defined by client requests and provided via written instructions prepared by the incumbent or another staff member; schedules installations and upgrades to minimize client disruptions.

• Data Analytics/Informatics - Creating custom interactive dashboards to provide metrics to stakeholders at all levels of the organization and inform operational and patient care decisions.
Skills: Content development for on-line training. To design & develop a curriculum for computer-based training from a story board.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
Matriculation in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program.
