1 Overview

We are looking for an experienced Information Technology Engineer to join our IT Services team at Cambridge Consultants. In addition to supporting our corporate IT Services function, you will play a key part in maintaining and improving our IT services associated with US Government work.

2 The role

As an Information Technology Engineer you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and support of physical and cloud infrastructure as well as providing support for a broad range of information technologies.

You'll join a team of 2, within a wider department of 25, to support the ever-changing needs of the business. You'll also work closely with some key stakeholders and develop relationships with the huge variety of colleagues from across our 4 divisions.

Cambridge Consultants is a growing and developing company, so you'll be given a diverse workload from the get-go with the opportunity to work on the full life cycle of a new project. This is a new role and we would like you to steer it to meet the evolving needs of the business.

3 Responsibilities

You will be involved in and responsible for the following tasks:

  • Designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting cloud and on-premises physical infrastructure services
  • Purchasing, provisioning and configuring endpoints in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Windows and Linux server administration
  • VPN, firewall, anti-virus and data backup/restoration administration
  • Working with stakeholders to understand business needs, recommending and implementing IT solutions
  • Collaborating closely with cloud infrastructure providers and other relevant third parties
  • Developing scripts to automate system configuration and processes where appropriate (Infrastructure as code)
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of information technology
  • Investigating security incidents as required
  • Maintaining technical documentation
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting
To be successful in this position you will have:
  • US Citizenship
  • Experience of implementing and maintaining IT services in compliance with US regulations such as FAR, DFAR, CUI and CDI
  • Experience designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting cloud (AWS or Azure) and physical infrastructure services
  • An appreciation of Office 365 administration
  • An appreciation of secure by design and DevOps principles
  • Strong understanding of network principles
  • Experience of programming and scripting
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in complex environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
