Salary: $55,000 - $65,000

Job Description

A Staff Scientist in our Safety and Industrial Hygiene practice group works with internal colleagues and clients to get projects done on time, on budget, while exceeding expectations. You will contribute to the firm's success by:

  • Collaborating closely with other members of the firm, listening to the client's needs, and developing solutions to meet their needs.
  • Rallying with the project team, keeping on track, and helping drive projects to completion. Communication with team members is essential in keeping things moving.
  • Working with clients to help them develop or maintain IH and Safety compliance programs.
  • Building relationships with clients, vendors, and partners through excellent project work.
  • Performing technical and field work and supporting project deliverables on safety and industrial hygiene related projects, including:
    • Safety program development and review;
    • Safety training and audits/reviews;
    • Employee exposure assessments;
    • Noise dosimetry and sounds pressure level surveys;
    • Indoor air quality assessments;
    • Ventilation studies;
    • Various assessments including PPE, LOTO, confined spaces, heat stress, etc.; and
  • As part of this position, there is an opportunity to become involved in environmental compliance projects including:
    • Solid and hazardous waste management permitting and compliance, including plan development;
    • SPCC plan development and compliance;
    • Stormwater permitting and compliance;
    • Wastewater permitting and compliance;
    • Environmental compliance inspections and evaluations;
    • Environmental audits and compliance assessments including identification and implementation of recommendations;
    • Knowledge of environmental laws and standards and ability to research and apply them appropriately; and
    • Environmental Reporting (i.e., Annual Waste Summaries, EPCRA Tier II Reports, SARA Toxic Release Inventory Reports, Air Emissions Inventory Reports, Annual Compliance Reports, etc.)


What We'd Love to See in You
  • BS degree or higher in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health/Safety, Public Health, Environmental Science, Safety or Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of direct safety and industrial hygiene experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of OSHA regulations and guidance as they apply to industrial, energy, and commercial clients.
  • Detail-oriented, motivated, analytical thinker, problem solver with a driven work ethic.
  • Desire to progress toward and become a Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or similar.
  • Strong desire to be part of and help grow the Safety and IH Services group and its services.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
