About In-Market Enhancements

The goal of the In-Market Enhancement (IME) team is to make vehicles better over time for customers after taking ownership (using Over the Air software updates and other mechanisms). The team builds new services, digital accessories, or upgrades to the vehicle and improve the customer's overall experience using vehicle connectivity. The team collaborates with Global Connected Services (GCS), Vehicle Brands (Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC), Vehicle Program teams and Feature Owners to develop the IME roadmap based on key market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights on how to create new value for our customers. The team partners with GM's broader technical and analytical teams to establish and execute new IME's as well as the marketing and communications teams to bring them to market. In addition, the team handles the performance and quality of the services currently in market to ensure the highest customer satisfaction.

Summary of Role

The Remote Services Assistant Product Manager, within the IME team, will assist in the development of a portfolio of connected vehicle products and services, bringing new products to market, and ensuring the highest quality experiences are delivered to our customers throughout their vehicle ownership lifecycle. Some services within this scope include (but not limited to):

  • Home-to-Car vehicle remote controls (e.g. Alexa, Google Home)
  • Automation/Predictive awareness of remote capabilities
  • Connected remote vehicle control services
This individual will collaborate with other team members in engineering, IT, product marketing, connected operations, legal, privacy and finance to develop their product roadmap and lead on execution. This role will have the responsibility of translating new technology and capabilities within the vehicle into breakthrough experiences away from the vehicle to meet customer needs in new ways.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate SAFe Agile practices to prioritize and lead the product backlog across all enterprise needs to drive optimal development activities
  • Utilize multiple data sources such as market research, analytics, customer insights, and others as key inputs in creating product roadmaps
  • Partner with technical teams (e.g. Program Engineering Managers) to execute requirements definition, development, and implementation of new products
  • Partner with GCS product marketing (e.g. Product Marketing Managers) to ensure optimal monetization strategies are aligned
  • Provide direction to analytics, market research, and applied insights teams on what needs and concepts require investigation and validation to support new demand opportunities
  • Lead and prioritize list of issues and enhancements that may be impeding the product's quality or adoption performance in the market for continuous improvement
  • Distill the essence of what our customers need, and represent as well-defined product briefs, Epics, and Features to create extraordinary experiences
  • Lead planning and product definition from concept to launch, and maintain throughout the product lifecycle
  • Own overall business case for assigned initiatives, with shared accountability with product marketing for business outcomes
  • Drive global alignment and execution of future products and features, including region-specific ones
  • Resolve integration and rollout across applicable vehicle programs
  • Apply end-to-end channel strategy to develop and coordinate with UX/UI to design world-class experiences and products
  • Balance product feature requests vs. marketing, design, and other requirements
  • Anticipate customer experience and value risk throughout the technical development process
  • Define requirements and needs for product performance analytics and reporting to maintain clear visibility on how the product quality and adoption is performing in the market
  • Lead product/service imperatives, including product/service scorecard development and financial/resource risk assessment
  • Facilitate and manage cross-functional product execution teams
  • Manage issues and uncertainties through effective decision framing and driving for resolution
  • Keep abreast of current consumer trends, competitive activity, and technology advancements
  • Innovatively fill the funnel of ideas within the portfolio, to ensure we're working on building leading-edge technologies that our customers need

  • Product management experience
  • Familiarity or experience with product lifecycle management
  • Knowledge of telematics, infotainment, or vehicle connectivity trends globally
  • Ability to consolidate multiple sources of disparate information into easy to understand views for leadership
  • Ability to translate global and regional trends and insights into meaningful product attributes
  • Ability to influence and implement ideas cross functionally with appropriate level of regionalization
  • Proven capability to develop product roadmap
  • Proven capability to manage product from concept to market launch
  • Experience with agile product development practices

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in BA, Marketing, Computer Engineer, or Equivalent Experience
  • Prefer MBA

COMPENSATION: The median level of salary compensation for this role is $109,283.

BONUS POTENTIAL: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
