Well, look no further! Alliant Energy has an opening for a HR Business Partner with a strong labor relations focus to join our team. In this position you will play a key role in supporting our Wisconsin Operations organization by maintaining and promoting positive and consultative relationships with employees and union leaders. You will resolve workplace issues; ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, grievances, investigations, organizational policies, and employment laws. You also will provide leadership and direction in workforce planning, talent development and execute HR and business unit strategy. Energy, passion, and drive are essential to this role as is the ability to build effective working relationships with internal customers and stakeholders.

This hybrid role will work from home and report on average 2-3 days per week to our office in Madison, WI or to our operations centers to meet with customers face to face. The successful candidate must reside in Wisconsin.

What you will do

  • Consult with managerial and other staff regarding bargaining unit contract interpretation.
  • Provide strategic HR support to customers across the organization.
  • Support leadership in workforce planning, talent development and change management including supporting DE&I initiatives.
  • Participate in labor relations-specific activities such as labor contract negotiations, grievance resolution, and arbitrations (for areas that have labor contracts).
  • Design and implement new approaches, policies, and procedures to influence continuous improvement in business objectives, productivity, and development within the company and human resources.
  • Optimize relationships and use critical thinking in order to develop and execute human resource strategies that align with business unit and company goals and strategies by proactively consulting with customers.
  • Embrace and integrate diversity, equity and inclusion in business strategies.
  • Partner with recruitment to focus on acquiring and retaining top talent and building a solid pipeline for future needs.
  • Partner with other human resource areas to provide input on guidance for compensation administration, including job description and job family development, salary recommendations, and annual merit and performance pay processes. Lead the investigation process for compliance/ethical complaints, discrimination complaints and employee misconduct.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in human resources, business management or a related discipline.

Preferred Experience

  • Solid labor relations experience.
  • 7 years of experience in human resources consulting, labor relations or other generalist role.
  • Experience developing and gaining customer engagement in strategic HR solutions in support of organizational goals.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and practices
  • Solid understanding of the provisions of HR regulations, laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced ability to effectively provide consultation to employees and leadership on complex human resource issues.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to work effectively with all levels of personnel inside or outside the company.
  • Excellent relationship building, conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects and work initiatives at one time.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
  • Ability to multi-task, plan, and carry out responsibilities with minimum of direction.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment.
