Examples of Work
The Plan Development Unit's (PDU) mission is to create plans in a timely manner for the project delivery goal of NDOT. This position creates title sheets, summary of quantity sheets, typical sheets, plan & profile sheets and other sheets for the plan package. The project can then be let and built to meet the asset management and safety goals of the department. Responsibilities include: Support the Roadway Design Division by producing sheets listed above for preliminary thru letting plans for all Roadway Design Projects. Creating Title Sheets and Summary of Quantity Sheets for NDOT projects; this includes working with the Materials and Research Division (M&R) surfacing unit and M&R Local Projects & Consultant Projects. Communicate effectively with people in the department. Work with roadway designers to create the project plans. After required skills have been achieved, assist co-workers /technicians to create plans following the guidelines set by NDOT.
Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Experience in civil drafting and/or design.

PREFERRED: Graduation from a recognized two year Technical Community College. Experience in Civil Drafting with Microstation or AutoCad.

OTHER: No overnight travel anticipated. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and create highway project plan sets. Experience using MicroStation or AutoCad. Proficient in applying Computer Aided Design technology to Roadway Plans and Standard or Special Plans. Interpret and utilize survey notes. Must be able to work with a minimum amount of supervision. NDOT encourages applicants of all ages and experience.
