Georgia-Pacific's Gypsum business has an exciting technical opportunity in Fort Dodge, IA!

The Georgia-Pacific Gypsum facility in Fort Dodge, IA produces a variety of gypsum wallboard, roof decking, and sheathing products. Wallboard is an affordable, strong, and durable construction material used in residential and commercial building. We are seeking a talented Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

What You Will Do

  • Perform major and minor repairs and maintenance on diesel and gas powered construction and mining equipment.
  • Conduct periodic maintenance on all assets in accordance with scheduled maintenance requirements within our CMMS, utilizing systems like VisionLink, CareTrack, and Deere Operations Center/JDLink.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed through use of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and machine telematics systems.
  • Coordinate procurement of parts to conduct repairs as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining proper inventory of stocked parts through assigning said parts to work orders, performing physical counts and restocking from previous orders.
  • Perform needed engine, transmission, and hydraulic system repairs on articulated dump trucks, front end loaders, excavators, tracked dozers, motor graders, surface miner, and miscellaneous small gas and diesel motors.
  • Work with a team to complete lubrication maintenance of mobile equipment in accordance with proper lubrication standards.
  • Be self-motivated working with minimal supervision and be capable of making decisions.
  • Work overtime, weekends and holidays when required.
  • Work in a hot, humid, cold, noisy, dusty, and wet environments.
  • Work safely, following company policies and practices including lock tag verify procedures and wearing all required personal protective equipment.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience as a heavy construction/mining equipment mechanic.
  • Experience reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for mobile equipment.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing power train components including internal combustion engines, transmissions, and final drive components.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • A High school diploma orGED
  • Experience with welding and fabrication to produce high quality repairs.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Associate degree, trade school equivalent, or dealer experience as a mechanic.
  • Experience with (Caterpillar VisionLink, CAT ET, Volvo Caretrack, John Deere Service Advisor, Operations Center/JDLink, Wirtgen WITOS, WIDOS) systems.
  • Experience with lubrication predictive technologies, sample analysis, and lubrication best practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other PC-based production reporting systems applications.
  • Experience within any Koch company or its subsidiaries.
  • Knowledge of MSHA, MSHA certification for open pit mining
