Description
The Lincoln Regional Center, a Joint Commission accredited state psychiatric facility, is looking for a full-time Health Information Technician. Location of position: Lincoln Regional Center

Work schedule: M - F 8am - 5pm
Examples of Work
Lincoln Regional Center is looking for a full-time Health Information Technician (HIT) to review and transfer medical transcription/dictation from GEMS to the electronic medical record (EMR); open and maintain patient records in the Health Information Management (HIM) department; audit medical record monthly/as needed, record deficiencies, and follow up with responsible staff; scan medical documents to EMR; close medical record in compliance with established Lincoln Regional Center (LRC) and regulatory standards; send release of information (ROI) to specified outside entities per regulations; data entry into appropriate program(s); receptionist duties including greeting and assisting staff and visitors; clerical support for direct-care providers; retrieve mail from central office and distribute appropriately; order office supplies to meet program needs and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of training and/or work experience that will enable the incumbent to possess the required knowledge, abilities, and skills. A general qualification guideline for positions in this class is a high school education plus two years experience in medical records desirable.

PREFERRED: High School diploma or GED. Experience working in an office and with office equipment such as multi-line phone, copier and scanner. Experience with Electronic Medical Records. Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: office and support functions, health information practices, confidentiality (HIPAA), medical terminology, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition, file maintenance (electronic and paper), and office equipment. Maintaining health information and medical records in compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. EMR experience preferred.

Ability to: communicate effectively, prioritize work, be detail oriented, establish positive working relationships, and understand and apply policies and procedures.
