The Lunder-Dineen Health Education Alliance of Maine(Lunder-Dineen), a program of Massachusetts General Hospital, is aone-of-a-kind health education program that links an academic medical centerwith a neighboring state. The program is charged with improving the health andwell-being of residents in Maine by addressing gaps in continuing education andpublic health an advancing the skills and expertise of health careprofessionals in these areas

The Health EducationProgram Specialist is a key member of the Lunder-Dineen team reporting to the SeniorProgram Manager. S/he will be responsible for working with the Senior ProgramManager in the implementation of the three Lunder-Dineen flagship educational programs.

The Health EducationProgram Specialist implements new educational programsand health initiatives to ensure the advancement of Lunder-Dineen strategicgoals and objectives. S/he incorporateseffective teaching strategies into programs to support a diverse group withdifferent learning styles, educational backgrounds and experience levels. Develops and continuously evaluates systemsand supports to aid in the teaching of health care professionals. The position will work alongside the Senior Program manager as the faceof Lunder-Dineen in Maine. The position calls for highly sophisticated relationship-building,project management, program implementation, program execution, and communicationsskills. Expertise in teaching and/or continuing education is required as theposition will be responsible for facilitating in person or virtual workshopsfor each program.

Principal responsibilitieswill include:

  • Under the direction of the Senior Program Manager, leads the on-site and/or virtual implementation of the three Lunder-Dineen flagship initiatives: Time to Ask, MOTIVATE and Maine Nursing Preceptor Education Program.
  • Cultivates, stewards and convenes practice site administrators, champions and committees for monthly meetings, site visits and on-going program implementation. Responsible for scheduling all meetings, developing meeting agendas and overseeing follow up items.
  • Maintains detailed project plans for all project and work streams.
  • Collaborates with Lunder-Dineen Senior Program Manager, Professional Development and Program Coordinator to share ideas on developing content related to the practice sites for Lunder-Dineen web and social media platforms.
  • Makes recommendations to the Senior Program Manager for formalized partnerships and collaborations with individuals and organizations in Maine and beyond.
  • Builds and maintains strategic relationships with health care professionals, executives, lay public members and others.
  • Works collaboratively with the Lunder-Dineen Professional Development Specialist and Senior Program Manager to incorporate a variety of educational methodologies in meeting the unique learning needs of individuals and groups across our flagship programs.
  • Applies new technology, theories, research findings, and experiential knowledge to improve resources.
  • Remains current with the trends, needs and drivers in the Maine and national healthcare landscape.
  • Represents Mass General with utmost professionalism and conduct and upholds standards of excellence and hospital mission.
  • Self-directed in identifying learning opportunities to expand knowledge and educational strategies.
  • Ability to successfully elicit feedback in a 1:1 or group setting, and to synthesize that feedback into conclusions.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Senior Program Manager.


Qualifications

    MinimumBachelors degree, Masters degree preferred.

    5-7 years previous experience in health education, programimplementation and execution experience which includes demonstration of thecompetencies identified above, experience in presenting to various interprofessionalhealth care teams across settings.

    The position will be based in Maine and required to have anintimate understanding of the landscape, culture and people. S/he will need toplan and execute a work schedule that incorporates extensive in state travel, andcomfort and experience with utilizing remote technology particularly.

    The Health Education Program Specialist will spend 100%or more of his/her time in Maine traveling across the state to Lunder-Dineenpractice sites and prospective practice sites. Experience with remote worktechnology and videoconferencing will be an essential part of the position. Mayinclude at least one overnight per month.

    • Strong computer skills and comfort with varying software programs and platforms (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Zoom)
