Position Overview

The Novelis Global IT/Digital team is seeking a Head of IT Strategy and Portfolio Management. The person in this role will report to the Chief Information Officer. The leader in this role will have the important responsibility of overhauling the Strategy and PMO function, bringing an 'Office of the CIO' framework to the organization and coordinating the transformation that IT is currently undergoing. The team called "Strategy and Portfolio Management Office" will be responsible for ensuring a consistent and strategic approach to the application of digital and information technology (D & IT) across the enterprise, and ensuring a consistent, transparent, and efficient approach to the way the IT organization delivers value to the business.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

  • Defines and governs objectives, frameworks, and metrics for the IT strategic planning process and establishes ownership and timelines for key planning steps
  • Leads and manages the creation or review of an IT strategy which aligns with enterprise strategy
  • Conducts meetings with senior IT leaders and key stakeholders across the organization to validate IT's understanding of business goals and effectively communicate the IT strategy
  • Manages the IT communications team to ensure a high standard of understanding of the strategy across the enterprise

PMO (Strategy Execution & Capabilities Building)
  • Collaborates with IT and other business leaders to build, execute and monitor the IT /Digital strategy
  • Contributes to and oversees the investment strategy for IT/digital initiatives
  • Works with other IT leaders to refine and sustain an IT operating model to take advantage of digital opportunities
  • Develops and leads the Agile Practice, putting in place the systems, processes and ways of working to sustain a high performing team, where skill development, increased agility, collaboration and improved ways of working are key to success.
  • Fosters digital dexterity in IT staff by facilitating training, networking and upskilling opportunities
  • Works with IT leaders to develop project and program resourcing strategies to ensure optimum support for projects and day-to-day operational activities
  • Works with the enterprise architecture function to ensure alignment between enterprise architectural roadmaps, business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and compliance standards
  • Ensures continuous alignment of project investments and initiatives with business strategy based on changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure, and interdependencies
  • Takes responsibility for special projects and other initiatives on behalf of the CIO
  • Oversees the development of appropriate governance frameworks and mechanisms for effective risk management
  • Implement ITSM processes to ensure compliance with the organization's strategy of running IT as an effective part of the business
  • Influences sourcing strategy and ensures effective management of vendors and sourcing relationships
  • Oversees IT budgeting, vendor management and cost estimation approaches, resource allocation, and reallocation for cost-optimization.

IT Transformation
  • Develop the framework and reporting mechanism that will ensure successful IT transformation (workstreams: culture, team, processes, strategy & technology, budget and external partners)
  • Creates a change management strategy to communicate and manage changes in roles, responsibilities and the organizational structure of the IT function

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field
  • 15+ years IT leadership experience across multiple IT domains with specific experience in business service delivery
  • Prior experience establishing and leading an end-to-end PMO function and delivering IT strategic portfolio for a global company
  • Experience building strong relationships across boundaries (strong facilitation skills with experience engaging teams in a collaborative, distributed environment)
  • Experience in business and IT transformation (successfully performed a leading role in the transformation of a global IT organization geared towards the use of digital to drive business agility)
  • Strong experience in developing business cases aligned to a strategic IT roadmap
  • Expert in IT strategic planning, communications, and financial management
  • Expert in IT governance formulation and organizational change management
  • Executive presence with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational level
  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
  • Proven track record of successful delivery team leadership and development
  • Proven track record of innovation, both in internal problem solving and in fostering innovative uses of technology in the organization
  • Strong business acumen with customer and user experience focus
  • Experience with one or more agile or lean methodologies (Lean, Scrum, Kanban, Devops, FinOps, SAFe)
  • Program management skills and experience, plus significant knowledge of productivity tools with evidence of practical application (which is highly desirable).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field
  • Work experience with practical certification such as
  • Scrum Alliance Certified Agile Leadership (CAL 2)
  • Scaled Agile Framework Certification (SAFe - SA or SAFe - SPC)
  • Kanban (KCP, AKT, TKP, Kanban-EXP)
  • Certified Coaching experience is a plus - ICF-CPP
  • Other Certifications: LeSS, CSP, CSPO, PMP, ACP
