In this role, you will provide global leadership for range of Data Governance strategies to manage and protect Operations data assets, so that they can be used with confidence to maximize value for the enterprise, while legal, ethical and security aspects are safeguarded. The role will provide strategic leadership in one or several of the following specialist areas: data governance strategy & operations, data standards management, data quality management, data policy, compliance & risk management.

Leadership to manage a diverse range of activities through others including deep technical data governance and advising on/leading cutting-edge projects on a global basis. Responsible for the development of Global Data Governance strategy, goals and roadmap, within a specified area, aligned to the AZ wide strategy.

What you will do:

  • Strategic leadership of design and implementation of Global Data Governance Framework which supports the overall strategy.
  • Data Standards and Quality management - Set the strategy and lead the global implementation of the Data Standards framework, metrics and forums across Operations
  • Data Asset stewardship and guidelines
  • Lead the creation of effective global procedures to ensure that each data asset is governed throughout its lifetime incorporating requirements such as accountability, stewardship, integrity, audit-ability and standardization.
  • Responsible for defining global data flow requirements to ensure data flows produced across the organization are transparent, consistent, approved, stored and maintained.
  • Influence key senior stakeholders, to maintain alignment to data quality and governance strategy.
  • Leadership, Improvement and Change - Strategic leadership of change and improvement of data literacy, culture and compliance, including cross-functional, senior leader engagements and projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information/Data Science, Informatics, computer science, economics or related field - or equivalent number of years of experience.
  • Significant and proven experience and deep subject matter expertise within a relevant industry.
  • In-depth and demonstrated knowledge of standards, data management regulations, policies and principles, applicable to the Pharma industry.
  • Significant experience of Business/ partnering for the implementation of Data Governance-related solutions.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with regulated and/or legal environment and requirements (e.g., GxP, data privacy and security).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a diverse, global team, within and across functions. Demonstrated leadership capabilities and AZ values at appropriate target level.
  • Ability to lead and manage negotiations across a complex group, to a target outcome.
  • Proven change management, assertiveness and negotiation skill.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters or PhD degree
  • Experience in life sciences and healthcare, and working across the drug research and development lifecycle.
  • Intimate knowledge of relevant key business processes
  • Network of relevant contacts and relationships, including external links
  • Data Governance and Data Management education and certifications
  • Applied data management and data science skills, including experience with related tools.
  • Proven track record of publishing relevant data governance and policy topics in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and other scientific proceedings.
