Position Summary:
The Idaho Geological Survey (IGS) and its Digital Mapping Laboratory (DML) is seeking a GIS Analyst to support on-going grant-related mapping efforts across the state of Idaho.
Based in Moscow, Idaho, the GIS Analyst will support Idaho Geological Survey (IGS) staff in grant-related responsibilities and research including database creation and management, digital cartography, and geologic mapping. The position reports to the Digital Mapping Lab Manager and requires the development and maintenance of GIS and non-spatial relational databases in a collaborative team environment. High-level proficiency of ESRI (ArcGIS) software is required.
The position is renewed annually, contingent upon funding and performance.
Principle duties are: 1) supporting agency projects through GIS analysis, database design, creative problem solving, and computer programming and scripting; 2) creating, managing, and maintaining spatial and nonspatial data in standardized geodatabase schema, including conversion of legacy databases; 3) creating geologic maps using both GIS and vector graphic software; 4) supporting the IGS mission through collaboration with IGS staff on agency planning, training, and documentation, among other tasks.
