Purpose of Position

This is a part-time/temporary twelve (12) month, non-tenure track, special appointment with University of North Dakota (UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), Department of Pathology. There are no benefits associated with this position. This is a .20 FTE, hybrid position with a minimum of 12 days per year on campus.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Development and delivery of curricula for forensic pathology fellowship in forensic anthropology.
• Research tasks including:
  • Development of contracts and grants supportive of establishing activity in forensic anthropology including potential for a post-mortem study laboratory for Northern Plains.
  • Mentoring and development of medical, criminal justice/forensic science or other students interested in short-term, defined research projects in forensic anthropology.
• Service tasks including assisting with protocols for Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) and repatriation attempts.

Required Competencies

• Experience in autopsy setting
• Experience with unidentified/unidentifiable human remains
• Experience in teaching in higher education setting
• Experience with research and publication process and requirements
• Experience with NAGPRA protocols

Minimum Requirements

• PhD in Anthropology
• ABFA board-certified
• Successful completion of Criminal History Record Check
