SUMMARY

Eagle Eye, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking qualified individuals for Fire Watch for Ft Wainwright, Alaska at the CRTC. The assignment of a person or persons to an area for the express purpose of notifying the fire department, the building occupants, or both of an emergency; preventing a fire from occurring; extinguishing small fires; or protecting the public from fire or life safety dangers.
Responsibilities

SUMMARY

Eagle Eye, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking qualified individuals for Fire Watch for Ft Wainwright, Alaska at the CRTC. The assignment of a person or persons to an area for the express purpose of notifying the fire department, the building occupants, or both of an emergency; preventing a fire from occurring; extinguishing small fires; or protecting the public from fire or life safety dangers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Continually patrol the area, structure or facility and document the patrol a minimum of once every hour.
  • Be trained in the use of a fire extinguisher and always have one accessible.
  • Maintain a record of the Fire Watch for inspection by the Ft. Wainwright Authorities.
  • This is shift work. Normal shifts are 0800 to 1600 hrs. (1st Shift), 1600 to 2400 hrs., and 2400 to 0800 hrs. (3rd shift). The position will require nights and weekend work to ensure full coverage for the duration of the project presently forecast for 7 days.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a fire watch or related role, demonstrating a solid understanding of fire prevention and safety procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
  • Strong observation skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify potential fire hazards and respond swiftly.
  • Knowledge of basic fire safety equipment and systems, including fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinklers, and emergency evacuation plans.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the company's operational needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey information accurately to supervisors, team members, and emergency personnel.
Preferred
  • Additional training or certifications in fire safety or emergency response is a plus.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS
  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • No supervisory responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
