CobbFendley is seeking an entry level Utility Locating Technician inFrisco, Texas

Summary:Entry level position with 95% of time in a field environment. Must have valid driver’s license. Responsible for identifying and marking buried utilities.

The successful candidates most important qualifications include:
  • Entry level Field Technician (full-time) with a general understanding of utility locating methods such as fiber, coax, power, gas, etc., a plus but not required.
  • Motivation to work in a changing environment with critical deadlines.
  • Desire to collaborate with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Increase your industry knowledge through on-the-job training to advance your career.

Essential Functions:
  • Must operate and maintain company equipment and vehicles.
  • Work near or on active construction sites.
  • Train to meet company safety standards and OSHA requirements.
  • Locate underground utilities with nondestructive technics such as pipe and cable locater, and vacuum excavation.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Repeated manual labor motions (i.e.- reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling) while carrying or operating equipment. (Commonly utilized tools include but are not limited to power saw, concrete/core cutting machine, tamper, jack hammer, portable water pump, concrete pavement patch repair materials.)
  • Walking long distances and climbing on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safe and efficiently.
  • Ability to operate heavy manual equipment over 60lbs.
  • Travel is a mandatory requirement of the role as assigned. The percentage of travel will fluctuate based on business needs and at times may account for 40% of the time worked. Travel includes to other offices or project sites throughout the US.
  • Ability to carry SUE equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings.
  • Physical mobility in and around construction sites, traffic work zones, and other field assignments.
  • Alert and responsive while working in lane closure zones adjacent to high volume traffic.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.
  • Repeated motions (e.g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying).
  • Communication with other employees and clients.
Environmental Factors:
  • 80% of work is performed outdoors in the field and 20% performed indoors in the office/warehouse.
  • Job site observations factors could include walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.
  • Extended use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones).
  • Use of cutting tools and equipment (e.g., plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter).

Expected hours of work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM MNT.

Must be available to work overtime as well as some weekends (as needed).

Maybe required to travel and must be willing to work 10 to 12 hours per day when working on out-of-town project sites.
