PRIMARY POSITION FUNCTION/SUMMARY:

SHIELD Illinois is a screening testing program and infrastructure that deploys the University of Illinois' innovative saliva test across the state. We save lives by curbing the spread of COVID-19, while reducing productivity loss and prioritizing employee wellbeing. SHIELD Illinois uses cutting-edge PCR technology and robotics to deliver fast reliable results to patients. We strive to have a positive impact on patients' lives across Illinois by making complicated testing and long turnaround times a thing of the past. The function of the Field Operations Associate is to run Shield IL COVID testing sites at different client locations regionally. Field Operations Associates work on our testing teams and travel to the client site, set up, and tear down.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet visitors, log patients, and direct them through the SHIELD saliva testing process including collecting samples
  • Use dedicated software and equipment to track test samples
  • Work with partners to transport samples to associated labs, and occasionally transport samples to actual labs
  • Set-up, clean, maintain, adjust, and tear down the testing site setup, as needed
  • Dispose of properly labeled biohazardous materials, according to regulation
  • Follow legal requirements, provide safety information, and ensure compliance with standard testing procedures
  • Assist in maintaining stock of consumable supplies
  • Ensure that the site and workplace remain a safe environment, including proper PPE, utilizing social distancing, and sanitation standards
  • Handle patient data as according to law
  • Other responsibilities or tasks, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Based on institutional requirements, current/valid State of Illinois driver's license for the type of vehicle(s) to be operated.

Successful Candidates will have
  • Ability to adhere to the University of Illinois System's SARS COVID-19 vaccination mandates
  • Willing to travel to client sites to provide testing services with other teammates in a provided vehicle and/or Ability to drive onsite with your own vehicle
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well as a part of a team
  • Ability to clearly communicate directions verbally in a clear and appropriate volume
  • Ability to deescalate conflict
  • Ability to deal with challenges and high stress environments while remaining calm
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment

Physical Demands
  • Position involves lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.

This is a full-time Civil Service Public Health Response Specialist position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
