Job Summary:

The Family Partner works with other members of the Southeast Emergency Services teams and provides peer support to parents served by the program. In this role, the Family Partner uses personal and professional life experience to provide consultation and training for staff and others to increase awareness and improve the effectiveness of parent-professional partnerships to meet the needs of families, and to participate in program and community meetings to maximize parent

voice, choice, and involvement throughout the service delivery process. This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Utilizes personal and professional life experience to provide peer support to parents and
caregivers served by the program
  • Provides parents and caregivers with information about the ESP and the wraparound process and resources, including the Family Partner role to assist them to successfully engage
  • Engages with the family to learn their story, culture, strengths, and concerns
  • Participates in ESP Youth Mobile Crisis Intervention outreach to ensure access, voice and choice within the wraparound process and to support the parent/caregiver's connection to the ESP and community providers, as necessary
  • Provides consultation and training to staff regarding a parent's perspective and lessons learned from life experience
  • Serves as a bridge to ensure that family and providers understand each other's perspective and information
  • Models effective coping techniques for parents and caregivers
  • Produces and maintains accurate and timely documentation
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements for the Position:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to articulate the experience and perspective of a parent/caregiver or relative of a child with complex needs involving mental health, child protective, or probation services.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a pressured situation and maintain clarity, focus, judgment, and compassion.
  • Ability to work with people in crisis in a hopeful and compassionate manner and model this for others.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must have the ability to assess children and adults in their homes and apartments with stairs.
  • High degree of personal organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Professional writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
  • Use of personal cellular telephone for work communication.
  • Current Massachusetts Driver's License and use of reliable personal vehicle for work related travel
