Estimator, Indianapolis - Milestone

Job Summary:

The Estimator role at Milestone will be responsible for generating cost estimates and new business opportunities in their assigned markets. This role is essential for ensuring the contracted work is accurately estimated and secured for the company. They will bid on advertised projects throughout the state of Indiana.

Essential Job Functions:

• Generates and develops cost estimates:
  • Analyzes plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare bids/quotes.
  • Ensures all estimates meet or exceed company and customer's expectations, as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Computes various cost factors.
  • Prepares budgets for various disciplines of work.
• Develops beneficial business relationships:
  • Develops good working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, and INDOT personnel.
  • Develops a network of contacts within the community.
  • Develops good relationships internally.
• Performs day-to-day estimating tasks:
  • Sets up jobs in job costing.
  • Attends pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.
  • Generates purchase orders and subcontractor agreements.
  • Prepares change orders, submittals, and assists with other tasks as necessary to support the project team.
  • Tracks and reviews cost history and incorporates into operational buy in review meetings.
• Communicates with internal/external customers:
  • Answers inquiries via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Provides highest levels of customer service.
  • Makes presentations to large and small groups.
  • Translates technical information into easily understood language.
• Promotes and maintains safe work environment:
  • Exhibits safe work behaviors.
  • Wears all prescribed PPE, as necessary.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Technology, Construction Management, related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 2-4 years previous experience in cost estimating; experience in civil estimating is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in CAD, drafting, and technical plan reading.

Key Details:

• This position is on-site, primarily working out of our Indianapolis location (Decatur).
• Regular travel to job sites, customer sites, and corporate offices throughout the state is required on an as needed basis.
• Travel is primarily day trips; however, some overnight travel may be required.
