Job Summary
This position is responsible for enhancing the effectiveness of the Escrow Operations team through effective project management, leadership and departmental support, vendor oversight support and business audit. This position will be responsible for handling a wide range of business projects and leadership support related tasks while working independently with little or no supervision. This position will interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure and must remain flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position can be remote with occasional travel to HQ in Troy, MI.

Job Responsibilities:

(35% of time): Business operational leadership to Escrow Operations team

  • Support the implementation of department strategic initiatives
  • Conduct special reviews of items identified for the department through quality and audit reviews
  • Identify and recommend process improvements and efficiencies to help the escrow management team execute on key initiatives and deliver desired performance results
  • Coordinate and execute on remediation efforts for issues that are brought to department management
  • Perform research for escalations brought to department management


(30% of time): Manage departmental projects
  • Manage timelines, deliverables, and resources for department projects and initiatives within the Escrow, Tax and PMI areas
  • Coordinate procedure and user guide changes and updates for department
  • Attend project meetings, update tracker, send status updates, and follow-up to ensure deliverables for assigned projects are completed on time
  • Address project follow up tasks as needed
  • Develop final results summary upon project completion


(20% of time): Vendor Oversight
  • Assist in managing projects and initiatives within the Escrow Operations department related to multiple Vendors
  • Compile reporting and metrics to be distributed to vendors
  • Perform audits on vendor data
  • Coordinate reporting and metrics between vendors and department leadership
  • Participate in any process improvements recommended or implemented by the Tax, Insurance, PMI company vendors
  • Review vendor procedures and help to identify gaps and needs for improvement


(15% of time): Departmental Audit
  • Support department in gathering data related to internal and business unit or external audit reviews and exams
  • Act as primary liaison for record retention reviews


Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Completes all required compliance training. Maintains knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures. Takes responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.

Job Requirements:
  • HS Diploma, GED or Foreign Equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Mortgage Servicing with specific experience in Escrow Operations (Tax, Insurance, PMI/MIP, Escrow Processing)
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Organized with good attention to detail
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work quickly and multi-task through various work items
  • Excellent ability to understand business needs based on skills and experience
