Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Environmental Technician is to promote and sustain our culture of environmental stewardship. This position will be responsible for monitoring, operating and maintaining critical environmental and operational systems, including the Baghouse, Continuous Emission Rate Monitors, and Water Treatment Plant. The successful candidate will also lead and assist with storm-water management, permit and emission compliance, waste management, radiation detection, spill prevention/control, and overall success of the EHS Department. Must be willingto work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as scheduled.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures and an extreme level of housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to safely work at heights, in confined spaces, and with hazardous chemicals/wastes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with water treatment, fume treatment, or environmental compliance
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge
- 2 -4 year environmental or industrial related degree
