Position Purpose:
Responsible for administering designated environmental, health, and safety programs and related policies and procedures affecting the company's existing environmental, health and safety issues. The individual will be responsible for acting in a liaison capacity with management and personnel regarding the interpretation, technical support, and guidance of all pertinent RCRA, DOT, and OSHA regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures to maintain compliance and employee safety. The individual will also provide additional administrative support for Branch departments.

Some responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Facility compliance inspections;
  • Health and Safety equipment calibration and inspections;
  • Employee training database entry and tracking assistance;
  • Incident and Behavior Based Safety program data management;
  • Participation on the PSM committee;
  • Participation on the EHS council;
  • Employee medical monitoring tracking and scheduling;
  • Driver Qualification File database maintenance:
  • Assist with policy and procedure development;
  • Compliance calendar, assessment & auditing database management.
  • Internal policy and procedure audits.
  • Administrative scanning & filing.

Primary Duties/responsibilities:

  • Administer programs pertaining to OHSA, medical surveillance, substance abuse testing to avoid potential liabilities to maintain a viable workforce at the facility.
  • Participates on improvement team pertaining to all environmental, health, and safety programs. Makes appropriate recommendations to facilitate the needs at the facility.
  • Participates in EHS training.
  • Provides appropriate research and analysis to support the development of existing and/or potential new EH&S policies as determined by facility management or required by federal, state, or local governmental agencies.
  • Position will require some travel to/from or between the various NJ Branch locations in Flanders, Middlesex, and Long Island.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • BS in EHS, Chemistry or related discipline
  • 2 to 4 years in the hazardous waste industry or related work experience preferred
  • 2+ years in a problem-solving capacity preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required

  • 2+ years in a problem-solving capacity preferred

Required Certification / Licenses / Training:

  • Ability to obtain CSP or CIH, or other relevant certifications.
