Engineering Technician II

Work Mode: Onsite

Opportunity

Under the generalsupervision of the Manager >15hp Development, perform a variety of complextests on engines, carburetors, and components to determine life characteristicsand failure mechanisms. Observe andrecord results of tests. Be part of a team responsible for leadinginnovations in gracious living by supporting the engine and engine componentproduct development process.



SPECIFICRESPONSIBILITIES


Set up test stand to correct configuration, prepare engine with instrumentation such as thermocouples and pressure transducers and perform tests as required.

Observe and report test data results with Microsoft Office which may affect outcome of future tests or may lead to new or useful information.

Perform daily oil checks, inspections and other scheduled tasks such as valve lash, oil & filter changes, spark plug changes, compression and leak down checks, etc, and maintain complete records of all the scheduled service work and completed tests including procedures used and results obtained.

Analyze data and make recommendations for minor design modifications. Recommend enhancements of test systems or procedures.

Strong understanding of fabrication procedures. Ability to operate lathe, drill press, welding equipment and other related tools along with reading blue prints or engineering documents to prepare equipment and engine parts for testing.

Perform setup, maintenance, and calibration of test equipment as required. Notify supervisor of maintenance and calibration needs to keep equipment functional and compliant. Clean up test area and equipment after use and testing.


Maintain or obtain adequate inventory of supplies to perform tests as they are scheduled.Notify appropriate personnel of items that must be ordered.

Multi-task daily workload with direction and prioritization from lab supervisor and/or scheduler. Coordinate the work activities with other technicians as required.Communicate to ensure smooth transition between shifts.

Perform basic engine repairs along with documentation and filing of ECAS reports for failures if required per the test requester.

Perform other related duties as required.

Work to develop individual goals/objectives to support the department goals through the use of the Maximizing Performance Appraisal Process.

Personally demonstrate and drive the Kohler Core Competencies.

Advanced electromechanical equipment understanding

Complete Advanced Kohler learning classes (ex. EFI, Teardown, Engines 101)

Skills/Requirements

Associate Degree in Mechanical EngineeringTechnology, preferably including internal combustion engine theory andapplication, or 2 plus years Kohler experience or significant experience in anequivalent field and has the ability to work and communicate at an advanced technicallevel. Emotionally stable and capable ofmaking sound decisions within above job description parameters.
