We are looking for an Engineering Designer to contribute to our Utility Infrastructure projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Columbia, MD.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Utilize software tools (including MicroStation as well as other programs) to compile design packages that are submitted to our clients.
  
• Contribute to our Green Power Connection work (for utility client projects).
  
• Receive approved Engineering packages to design and complete for internal quality review (QA & QC).
  
• Design overhead and underground extensions in existing electrical distribution systems.
  
• Review diagrams a variety of overhead and underground equipment (including pole framings) to determine various requirements and clearances.
  
• Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
  

 

Basic Requirement:

• 2+ years of professional experience working in Utilities, Mechanical Design, and/or Civil Design.
  

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working on electrical / power utility projects, especially with electrical distribution systems.
  
• Advanced understanding of overhead and underground distribution systems, especially with tensions and deflection angles.
  
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineered diagrams.
  
• Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.:  CADD, GIS, etc.), especially with MicroStation; additional experience with PoleForeman software is a plus!
  
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
