Location/Division Specific Information

The Marietta Manufacturing site is a member the Laboratory Products Division within Thermo Fisher Scientific. Our laboratory equipment and products are used primarily by pharmaceutical companies for drug discovery, development, and used by biotechnology companies and universities for life science research and promotes prevention and cure diseases while improving the standard of life. Our offering consists of equipment, accessories, and services for sample preparation, storage and protection, and analysis.

How will you make an impact?

By providing your engineering skills, knowledge, and technical support to our manufacturing production environment to enhance product quality, improve manufacturing processes, eliminate waste, improve operating performance, and increase customer alliance.

What will you do?

  • Evaluate economic feasibility of capital projects and prepare justifications.
  • Collect, process, and evaluate information/data, resulting in recommendations for a course of action to management.
  • Evaluate, purchase, and install manufacturing equipment.
  • Develop machine/people requirements and utilization for future business plans.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Resolve shop floor technical and quality issues.
  • Continuously improve shop efficiency
  • Recommend Manufacturing processes, procedures, layouts, and methods.
  • Evaluate product quality, cost, and efficiency from Product Design Engineering and configure for production process.
  • Actively participate in New Product Development (NPD) cycle to optimize product manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Review and approve Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
  • Lead/support (PPI) Practical Process Improvement team.
How will you get here?
  • B.S degree in related engineering field
  • Preferred Experience
  • Experience with hard goods manufacturing processes and machinery, along with a good analytical ability to analyze current procedures and recommend manufacturing improvements.
  • Knowledge of various sheet metal fabrication and welding procedures and practices.
  • Hands on experience with tools and equipment
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Ability to evaluate and resolve diverse problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication capabilities
  • Ability to address internal and external customer complaints.
  • Ability to read and understand CAD drawings.
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP system (a plus)
  • CAD skills- SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD (a plus)
