Position Overview:

As an Endoscope Test Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and building high-precision stereo endoscope test and calibration equipment as part of a diverse engineering team. This position will require an understanding of electro-mechanical test systems (mechatronics), automation, system design, measurement analysis, optical test systems, and design-for-manufacturing methods. Our test systems have extremely high performance standards in order to calibrate and test endoscopes that are safe, reliable, and consistent. Individuals in this role must demonstrate experience with electro-mechanical test system design, and work across multiple teams to develop state of the art test and calibration processes and equipment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and continuously improve manufacturing test and calibration systems for endoscopes and sub-systems: cameras, image sensors, illumination systems, etc.
  • Work closely with product development engineers and test engineers to understand requirements to develop robust, reliable, and reproducible endoscope test and calibration equipment.
  • Writing high-quality documentation for equipment specifications, validation protocols, assembly instructions, preventative maintenance, and calibration methods.
  • Analyze, and debug equipment issues with measurement accuracy, reliability, repeatability, and reproducibility.
  • Provide design engineers with Design for Manufacturability and Design for Reliability input to ensure consistency and commonality across product lines.

 

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

  • Minimum BS in relevant engineering field: mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, physics, etc., MS preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant test development engineering experience for a medium to high volume product.
  • Familiarity with generating new electrical schematics and/or wiring diagrams
  • Experience with industrial control systems and safety interlocks.
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical equipment: motorized stages, optical sensors, optical alignment, machine vision cameras, etc.
  • Able to lead cross-disciplinary projects with broad engineering teams
  • Strong analytical skills to understand, analyze and improve the accuracy, repeatability, and reliability of measurement equipment.
  • Strong statistics and/or data analysis skills preferred.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma methodologies desirable.
  • Documentation skills must be excellent.
  • Use of Agile or similar lifecycle management tools desirable.
  • Able to travel to work with suppliers (only if needed).
