POSITION: EMPLOYER RELATIONS & PLACEMENT MANAGER

DEPARTMENT: THE SMITH INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH, CAREER DEVELOPMENT, AND POST-GRADUATE READINESS

DIVISION: ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Responsibilities: The Employer Relations and Placement Manager of The Smith Institute for Research, Career Development, and Postgraduate Readiness (SIRCDPgR) is a vital role in the implementation of ongoing strategic and student success-related initiatives. Under the leadership of the Assistant Director of The Smith Institute for Research (SIRCDPgR), the Employer Relations and Placement Manager is responsible for cultivating connections, fostering new, and sustaining existing relationships with employers and alumni to secure internships and employment placements across the University. The Employer Relations and Placement Manager develops programs and initiatives to enhance student recruiting strategies, experiential learning opportunities, and applications for internships and full-time career opportunities. The Manager is the primary contact for on-campus interviews for internships and full-time roles and will own the process from start to finish. The Manager also provides \quality support to employers on-site, and assists in problem-solving and aggressive placement outcomes.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Student Personnel Services, Business or related area; a Master's degree is helpful. in related field and experience that equates to an advanced degree in knowledge of student services, apprenticeships, internships, and other experiential learning activities. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to effectively navigate job search web tools and social media platforms such as Handshake, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Keen attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Experience building partnerships with businesses, agencies, and non-profits
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills especially those in the areas of collaboration, conflict resolution, problem solving and decision making
  • Strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and constituents
  • An inclusive student success-centered philosophy of providing services and resources
