VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is a 24- hour Emergency/Critical Care and Specialty Animal Hospital located in Clackamas, Oregon.

We are seeking an Emergency Room Liaison to join our busy 24-hour hospital.

What is an ER Liaison?

An ER Liaison is the point person who helps bridge the communication between the emergency doctor and the client.
The ER Liaison will work in tandem with the senior emergency doctor as needed to ensure that patients are seen in a timely manner as well as maintaining a direct line of communication between the owner and the doctor.
The ER Liaison will assure a smooth transition from initial phone call, through patient arrival, triage, treatment and discharge processes. Keeping the owner informed during every step, as well as maintaining communications with the front desk, technicians, emergency doctors and primary veterinarian as needed.
The ER Liaison will field and facilitate incoming phone calls for the emergency doctor, and provide a point of contact for pet owners, and referring veterinarians.

The ER Liaison will also give clients progress reports, fill prescriptions as needed, and assist with owners visiting their hospitalized pets.

The ER Liaison will manage medical records, reports, and log correspondence with clients

The ER Liaison will help guide clients dealing with euthanasia by walking them through the process before, and by finalizing afterlife care

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in veterinary facility preferred, but not required.
• Telephone and computer skills are necessary
• Excellent communication skills
• Effectively present medical and financial information to clients and employees
• Friendly, outgoing, and detail oriented
• Capable of being cross trained This requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, bites, and odors.
• A team player and eager to learn new things
• Display compassion for pets and people
• Desire to work in fast-paced environment
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours of varying shifts - including nights, weekends, and holidays
