The Electrical Instrumentation Technician performs maintenance activities associated with electrical/electronic systems including programmable logic controllers, distributed control systems, as/dc drives, relay logic circuits and equipment software. The Electrical Instrumentation Technician provides electrical support to the Maintenance and Engineering teams.

Ways you will make a difference

  • Performing duties of preventive and predictable maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing multiple electrical and mechanical systems plant wide.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Modifying existing systems to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Monitor control systems and equipment performance and conduct visual inspections of human-machine interfaces.
  • Monitor and perform corrective and preventive maintenance on assigned systems.
  • Ensure proper operations of systems and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose system problems and take corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Provide input to and utilize Computer Maintenance Management System to maintain accurate equipment histories and capture work activities ensuring efficient and cost effective operation of systems.
  • Understand and be proficient in application of National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Work directly with in-house personnel or contracted services to ensure systems are maintained and projects are completed. Organize reference materials, computer systems, manuals and prints with Engineering Department and Maintenance.
  • Maintains safe working practices and conditions; participates in safety inspections and identifying and correcting hazards.
  • Maintains housekeeping and Good Manufacturing Practices in the bakery.
  • The ability to show up on time and to be at work
  • The ability to work overtime

Skills that will make you successful

  • Associates degree in Electronic/Electrical Technologies or equivalent experience. Formal training in Allen Bradley PLCs and software to include troubleshooting, programming, and interfacing a plus.
  • Five plus years' prior job related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proficient with relevant computer programs.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of plant control systems.
  • Strong organizational, as well as, oral and written communications skills.

Experiences that will support your success

  • Operates equipment such as forklift, scissor lift, pallet jack, etc. in order to safely and properly perform maintenance on machinery.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned
  • Worker subject to exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
  • Worker subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions; not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Worker subject to outside environmental conditions: no effective protection from weather.
  • Worker subject to both inside & outside environmental conditions.
  • Worker subject to extreme heat: temperatures above 100 degrees for periods less than one hour.
  • Worker subject to noise: there is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • Worker subject to hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, or exposure to chemicals.
  • Worker subject to oils: there is air/skin exposure to oils & cutting fluids.
