Job Description

The Mueller Company is headquartered in Atlanta, GA and manufactures valves for water and gas systems, including iron gate, butterfly, tapping, check, plug, and ball valves, as well as dry-barrel and wet-barrel fire hydrants; pipe repair products, such as clamps and couplings used to repair leaks, as well as municipal castings, including manhole covers and street drain grates; and residential and commercial water meter products and systems. It also offers metering, leak detection, pipe condition assessment, and other products and services for the water infrastructure industry, as well as provides installation, replacement, and maintenance services on new and existing valves, fire hydrants, and service lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate Safety processes by applying knowledge of machine design, machine parameters, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with vendors and soliciting observations from plant operators.
  • Design draw and model solutions for Machine Guarding, Safeguards and Tooling.
  • Work with outside vendors for design and solutions. Evaluate design and solutions to meet safety requirements. Maintain minutes of meeting (memo).
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of various industrial control measures.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current health and safety policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
  • Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment.
  • Ensure buildings or products comply with health and safety regulations, especially after an inspection that required changes.
  • Create, Review, Update Policies and Procedures.
  • Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment (MOC) to ensure they meet safety requirements.
  • Prepare critical information for presentations, trainings and other communications and be able to present findings.
  • Appy engineering principles and knowledge for Incident Investigations, Root Cause Analysis, Auditing, Machine Evaluations, etc.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data, information, and trends to prepare reports. Maintain data through identified computer programs.
  • Improve efficiency through analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout, safety, and ergonomic requirements.
  • Support engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance by providing data and information and answering questions and providing solutions as requested.
  • Implement new systems and procedures as designed.
  • Produce Standard Operating Procedures and or Work Instructions relative to EHS processes.
  • Conduct JSA, JHA and other evaluations.
  • Utilize FMEA, DFMEA and DOE's to drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and interpret data, reports, trends, and other information.
  • Train others on various Safety Related or Engineering Topics.
  • Plan and conduct Industrial Hygiene activities. Analyze human performance or heath factors related engineering or design.
  • Lead Specialized Projects within EHS.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participation in related professional organizations.
  • Direct efforts to meet and/or exceed compliance with all regulatory bodies, organizations and government requirements in the performance of position duties.


Position Requirements:
  • Newly Graduated Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Basic Knowledge of Safety Fundamentals, OSHA Regulations and Training Principles.
  • Knowledge of robotic applications is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communications and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of employees, customers and outside professionals.
  • Working experience of Cad and 3-D software to develop drawings and models.
  • Outstanding PC/Systems knowledge and skills.

Required Experience
  • Basic understanding of OSHA Regulations, Safety Fundamentals is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of capital projects scope development, justification, and management.
