  • Plan dose delivery to patients per MD parameters
  • Use treatment planning system to plan external beam therapy treatments as prescribed by MD
  • Generate computerized plans for MD approval
  • Provide manual write-up and verification of treatment settings
  • Participate in charting activities/documentation
  • Perform weekly chart reviews as directed by Physics Director
  • Accurately document dosimetry charges
  • Provide and document manual calculations
  • Communicate and serve as resource when needed
  • Work closely with therapists to ensure optimal delivery of plans
  • Serve as resource to therapy, physics, and MD staff on planning systems and issues
  • Comforts and educates patients on radiation planning activities
  • Ensure simulation images are available and usable for planning
  • Represent physics/planning function in simulation when necessary to ensure needed images are captured correctly the first time
  • Serve as expert resource to therapists and MDs on planning issues in simulations as appropriate
  • Assist patient setup for CT simulation
  • Make custom devices for patient treatments
  • Represent dosimetry in QA/CQI/PI issues
  • Participate in selection and oversight of quality measures
  • Serve on CQI, Rad Safety, and PI teams as appointed
  • Attend monthly physics meeting and actively participate/contribute
  • Participate in Brachytherapy program as directed
  • Assist physics in the loading of seeds
  • Assist physics in the generation of brachy plans
  • Assist physics in other brachy procedures as needed
  • Share knowledge with others to improve processes
  • Provide inservices when asked for various audiences
  • Serve as mentor/preceptor for dosimetrist in training
  • Work with RTT to further educate them in dosimetry issues


  • Qualifications
    • Experience Minimum Required
      • Clinical experience associated with formal dosimetry education program or 5 years experience as an RTT.
    • Experience Preferred/Desired
      • 3 to 5 years experience
    • Education Minimum Required
      • R. T. T. or at least Associate of Science.
      • Formalized training in dosimetry through an approved program.
