Position Overview:

Motiva is seeking to add a Distillate Trading Manager (Book Lead) to our Supply Trading and Logistics Organization.

Responsibilities:

Specific job duties or deliverables that the position requires which will also measure performance:

  • Negotiate contracts for purchase/sale of distillate product within limits of authority. Identify and pursue commercial & trading opportunities. Accountable for meeting profitability and optimization targets.
  • Provide market assessment for development of region's tactical trading strategy in accordance with risk management policies. Gather and report competitive intelligence on underlying supply and demand forces impacting assigned region.
  • Establish and sustain relationships with key counterparties.
  • Coordinate logistical arrangements with supply logistics groups to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of distillate shipments.
  • Collaborate with System Optimization and Refinery Optimization staff to identify and act upon supply chain opportunities. Determine hedging strategy. Ensure refineries' requirements are met on timely basis. Communicate supply and trading issues impacting profit optimization at refineries. Evaluate economics of available product.
  • Empower a culture of excellence that identifies and pursues entrepreneurial commercial opportunities.
  • Build team acumen and experience to accomplish profitability and optimization targets.
  • Capture global flows and arbitrage through robust trading activity and placement.
  • Maximize the value of the considerable Motiva assets and the respective product streams associated with those investments.
  • Possess a spirit of compassion, insight and courage to lead wisely through adversity.
  • Build success for the long term.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Technical BS degree. MBA preferred.
  • 10 + years of mid-stream/down-stream oil and gas experience is required. Solid commercial acumen is also required.
  • Possess a strong commitment to compliance and ethical best practices. Adhere to all US federal compliance laws and regulations.
  • Comprehend risk management and trade analysis methodologies.
  • Deep knowledge of Supply & Trading business acumen.
  • Master negotiator.
  • Ability to build success through key relationship management.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Ability to teach, provide knowledge transfer and display exceptional leadership to subordinates, peers and executives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
