The Director of Residence Life supports students by developing a residential community that focuses on student success. Reporting to the Senior Director of Student Affairs, this position is responsible for the administration and management of undergraduate and graduate housing, including family housing units in Trinity Woods. The total residential population is about 275 students, when at capacity. Mount Mary University serves an undergraduate population with over 60% of students identifying from historically marginalized backgrounds and this position will focus on priorities through the lens of equity and inclusion.

This professional position has a live-on apartment if desired. If not, the Director of Residence Life must live within 15-minute driving distance from campus.

Residential Living Responsibilities:

  • Develop a residential community that focuses on student success and well-being of individual students and the community as a whole
  • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff, including resident assistants and front desk staff
  • Facilitate programming for the residence hall and greater campus community that align with the University's mission and identity, including advising the Caroline Hall Council
  • Enforce all University policies and procedures, respond to crisis situations, and act as a hearing officer for student conduct proceedings
  • Be accessible to resident and non-resident students, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries; have a regular presence in the residence hall and at university programming
  • Manage contracts, housing assignments, and room changes via The Housing Director software and collaborate with Buildings and Grounds on facilities management
  • Participate, as needed, in support of Student Outreach and Support Team (SOST) and Coordinated Registration Group (CRG)
  • Contribute to the institution-wide student success framework
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Higher Education or equivalent
  • Professional student affairs/residence life experience required, preferably experience managing campus crisises
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence; experience working with underrepresented students
  • Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups, facilitate group processes, and foster collaborative decision making
