Summary:

This is a Director level role within the Enterprise Risk Management department with primary responsibility for the management, oversight and overall execution of CSG's Internal Audit organization. Reporting internally to the SVP Chief Risk Officer, and externally to the Audit Committee, this role will provide expert guidance to the Board of Directors and senior business leaders across the enterprise. This role will interact directly, and work in close collaboration, with executive leadership, the Legal department, risk management, external auditors/assessors and senior business leaders across the CSG enterprise to promulgate, promote and provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services.

Position Details:

Responsibilities

Internal Audit Strategy

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization's internal audit function to deliver value-added services to CSG
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Chief Risk Officer regarding governance, risk, and control matters
  • Participate in companywide initiatives such as Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DE&I) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)
  • Participate in acquisition due diligence and integration activities to identify and integrate audit-related functions, activities and required audit alignment/execution

Internal Audit Function

  • Maintain and periodically update the Internal Audit Charter
  • Lead the annual risk assessment of the audit universe to generate the annual internal audit plan, including quarterly refresh
  • Manage and execute the approved annual audit plan including planning, risk assessment, resource management and audit reporting. Execute annual Sarbanes-Oxley, SOC 1 and ISO-27001 compliance programs with strong collaboration with external audits and maximizing the reliance on internal audit's work product
  • Manage and execute the department's annual goals and aid in the development of a world-class audit and advisory function
  • Supervise the work of all auditors, as well as engage and manage co-sourcing and external audit relationships for Sarbanes-Oxley, SSAE 18 and Internal Audit projects
  • Implement automated testing program that provides efficiency in the audit process using self-service, testing scripts and concepts of continuous improvement
  • Present findings and recommendations to the Audit Committee and actively monitor audit related remediation and management action plans
  • Keep Audit Committee informed of all significant, relevant concerns impacting the Committee's responsibilities or the responsibilities of the Internal Audit department
  • Maintain audit operations to provide tools and resources for auditors; professional practices manual, tools and template and adopted technologies
  • Interpret changes in the regulatory environment (e.g., SEC, PCAOB) or industry frameworks (e.g., COSO) and provide recommendations to meet those requirements and improve business processes
  • Report to senior management, external auditors, and the Audit Committee regarding approach, timing, and performance as well as identified deficiencies
  • Identify potential new or emerging risks identified by Internal Audit and report to the Chief Risk Officer
  • Manage team members who partner with other functions to execute internal investigations where needed
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with Senior Leadership

Internal Audit Team Development and Leadership

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to successfully grow and develop the team
  • Establish credibility and organizational trust to cultivate and inspire a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement with a commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and professionalism
  • Lead change management strategies and plans as needed within the department and broader organization
  • Demonstrate ability to understand and train others in the universe of business/technical risks and in the evaluation of the adequacy of management's control design and effectiveness of control activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 7 or more years professional audit experience with 5 years previous supervisory experience
  • Previous experience working with Audit Committees and Boards of Directors
  • Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm strongly preferred
  • International business experience preferred
  • CPA, CIA, or CISA certification preferred

  • Outstanding communications skills, including presenting to, advising, and educating executive leadership and Board of Directors. Must be able to convey complicated topics and issues in a straightforward and concise manner and be able to tailor communication style to the audience including such matters as engagement objectives, evaluations, conclusions, and recommendations
  • A quick learner that displays excellent judgment and problem-solving skills which enable timely and appropriately risk balanced advice and guidance
  • A team player who displays self-confidence, encourages collaboration, and establishes credibility that earns organizational trust from superiors and peers who can find common ground in solving problems
  • Extensive experience with risk-based internal auditing and annual planning
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SOX 404 regulations and compliance
  • In-depth knowledge of manual and automated systems of internal control
  • Proficiency in applying internal audit standards, procedures, and techniques in performing engagements
  • Proficiency in applying GAAP accounting principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of the indicators of fraud sufficient to identify them
  • Knowledge of key information technology risks and controls and available technology-based audit techniques
  • Understanding of management principles to recognize and evaluate the materiality and significance of deviations from good business practices
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of business subjects such as: accounting; economics; commercial law; taxation; finance; quantitative methods; fraud; risk management; and information technology
  • Demonstrated integrity and commitment to the highest ethical standards and personal values
