The Department of Family Medicine has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Business Services Director (Director of Finance and Administration) position.

Jobs in this career family provide general business operations of the organization or a combination of operational responsibilities covering multiple career families. Functions include institutional research, statistical analysis, policy development and review, strategic planning and broad unit business operations such as parking and transportation services, risk management, childcare services, real estate and property management, retail services or job responsibilities that combine fiscal, HR and operational management responsibilities.

Directors are responsible for the ongoing leadership and oversight of a department, including the development of strategies and processes which contribute to the University and/or campus mission and accountability for services provided. Directors are responsible and accountable for the analysis of fiscal and human resources required to achieve department objectives including hiring, compensation, termination, and performance management of subordinate employees.

Nature of Work

The Department Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) is the administrative leader for one of the largest and most innovative departments of Family Medicine in the United States. With more than 170 regular faculty, 80 affiliate faculty, 65 support staff, and 600 volunteer faculty the Department of Family Medicine aims to enhance the quality of patient care, improve the health of communities and populations, reduce the cost of health care, and increase staff satisfaction.

The DFA has authority over the business affairs, funds and resources of the department of Family of Medicine. The DFA is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the administrative activities of the Department and ensuring compliance with all internal and external policies and procedures that govern the department's efforts. The DFA oversees the department's fiscal affairs, human resources, and day-to-day operations in support of the Department's and school's mission and goals. The DFA serves as the department representative for the School of Medicine (SOM) and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus regarding relevant fiscal and administrative matters. This role ensures consistency between the policies and procedures of the department and those of the SOM and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. This role is also responsible for oversight in strategic planning, executing initiatives and guiding growth in the department in partnership with the Department unit leaders.
