Kenyon College invites applications for the position of Director of Employer Relations. The Director of Employer Relations is a new position within the Kenyon College Career Development Office that will be responsible for creating recruitment pipelines between the College and national and global employers; sourcing internship and job opportunities for students and young alumni; attracting Kenyon talent to these opportunities; and ultimately maximizing student employment outcomes. This position will work closely with the Career Development team, employer partners, and campus partners to achieve these goals. This position reports to the Dean for Career Development.

Relationship Development

  • Engage alumni, faculty, and parents in cultivating and strengthening relationships with employers in industries of interest to Kenyon students. Develop relationships with for-profit, nonprofit and public sector partners and create pipelines for Kenyon talent to these organizations using traditional and innovative strategies. Generate and implement successful college-to-career strategies for Kenyon's underrepresented student populations across industries. Build recruiter contacts, focus groups, and annual outreach strategy. Understand Kenyon's curriculum, educational mission, employer portfolio, and student majors, interests, demographics, and clubs/organizations to effectively represent Kenyon to employers. Generate Kenyon applications for opportunities generated from employer partners.

Innovative Programming

  • Regularly generate solutions to recruitment challenges in order to make Kenyon an obvious source for talent acquisition. Introduce employers to the College and to Kenyon talent through hosting new value-added events that deepen student learning and increase recruitment of Kenyon talent. Collaborate with the CDO staff to construct, manage and staff on-campus recruiting activities, including information sessions, on-campus interviews, and career fairs. Plan and coordinate annual spring break career treks that connect students with employers on location.

Data Analysis

  • Stay current on hiring trends and share updates as needed to CDO staff, faculty, students, and campus partners. Analyze Handshake job and internships listings to identify gaps in current listings and partnerships. Assess annual student outcome data and employer satisfaction surveys to determine future outreach, initiatives, and programming updates.

Communications

  • Create recruiting guidelines and best practices for employers interested in recruiting at Kenyon. Develop digital and print resources to direct alumni, parent and employer recruitment efforts appropriately; and to increase student knowledge of these opportunities. Conduct campus outreach to generate student interest for employer partners' opportunities and events in alignment with brand strategy. Generate regular reports of alumni and parent engagement, and attend regular Advancement outreach meetings as requested by the Vice President of Advancement.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to build effective and reciprocal relationships with for-profit, nonprofit and government organizations. Familiarity with recruiting trends and challenges, particularly those for underrepresented student populations. Strong technological background, with proven track record of utilizing software and technology to streamline processes, create resources, and scale programs. Team player, excited to work collaboratively with others. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five to seven years of related work experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, regional/state/national economic development, career services, and/or corporate relations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, G-Suite, video-conferencing, LinkedIn, and CRM databases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with and affinity for the liberal arts. Familiarity with career services software Handshake. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.

Working Conditions
This position may require limited travel and the associated physical demands, as well as occasional work during evenings and weekends.
