Overview

The Director of Demand Planning & Business Analytics is responsible for leading the demand planning and business analytics processes for American Casualwear. The Director leads the Demand Planning team in managing, evaluating and making recommendations to the business on the Sales and Operational forecasts to facilitate maximizing sales and minimizing inventory. The Director works closely with cross-functional partners in Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain and Finance to develop an accurate demand forecast to meet ACW's key business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and ensure that the SAS forecast properly reflects the intended direction of the business for a rolling 18 months.
  • Determine, evaluate and manage all demand signals to identify potential over/under shipments and make appropriate recommendation.
  • Ensure the forecast / operational capacity passes properly reflect the desired mix of product, the latest financial call and all requested upside for the business.
  • Ensure the timing of the capacity requests covers the demand.
  • Develop, coach and evaluate the demand planning and analytical teams.
  • Possess a deep understanding of the relationship of the demand signals to the production and inventory plans, with expert knowledge in all of the involved systems.
  • Oversee the sales commitment process from the sales/customer commitments through demand loaded into DPR based on the published timeline.
  • Drive change in commitment process to achieve a fully automated collection of data and identify opportunities to increase accuracy and reduce redundancy.
  • Responsible for calculating and sharing total unit and dollar rollup information for make/drop decisions by the business based on customer demand, as well as continuous analysis of surplus/excess inventory.
  • Develop and drive execution of financial ship forecasts with heavy cross functional connectivity to Finance, Supply Planning, Sales, Distribution and Customer Service.
  • Responsible for providing total unit and dollar rollups of seasonal demand against the OPC and prior year.
  • Develop, based on the demand, the OPC and any LE's or LC's done during the year.
  • Management of quarterly review of TILs (target inventory levels) including evaluation of shipment, POS, commitment and cancel data to make informed recommendations to marketing.
  • Manage weekly and monthly information data flow with focus on communicating and executing calendar deliverables and financial planning requirements.
  • Ensure consistency of forecast assumptions across the business unit, including base business trends, promotional plans, new launch volumes, product changes and seasonal volume.
  • Lead forecast and inventory planning meetings with Sales Directors, review recommended sales forecasts and inventory goals with emphasis on brand transitions, new product introductions and marketing plans.
  • Direct analytical Team to help inform Sales, Marketing and forecasting partners of product sales trends (weekly, monthly annually )
  • Utilize POS and shipping data to analyze in-stocks, price elasticity, pack size variability and other related sales trends across printwear/ retail and ecom channels to seek opportunities.
  • Team will monitor channel policies ( such as On-line MAP ) to ensure compliance and sales optimizations

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred concentration in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or other quantitative business discipline)
  • Minimum 10+ years of strategic planning and data analytics experience preferably within a Retail or Manufacturing industry
  • Required proficiency with MS Office Suite including advanced Excel skills and Data base management/mining skills
  • Demonstrated experience building, coaching and managing high performing demand planning or forecasting teams
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong ability to develop collaborative working relationships in a team environment
  • Must be results driven and utilize knowledge to meet or exceed KPIs and goals
  • Must have proven organizational and time management skills, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks, priority and deadlines
  • Superior written and oral presentation skills, with the ability to listen effectively to solve problems, anticipate issues and make effective decisions
  • Proven ability to leverage technology and systems to drive efficient and effective reporting and processes
  • Strong leadership skills and proven experience exhibiting the highest level of business ethics
