Purpose

The role holder provides effective leadership, direction, planning, administration, and management of AVANGRID's compensation function.

This role holder operates as the subject matter expert on all compensation related matters including Executive compensation. Strong understanding of all related governance and accounting implications, compensation committee preparation, managing the development of CD&A agreements and supporting compilation of information for the annual proxy statements.

  • Manages and develops a team of skilled professionals.
  • Works collaboratively with the Global Rewards team.
  • Manages critical vendors relationships.
  • Works collaboratively with MC level Executives and key functions including Finance, Legal and other HR / business areas as needed to develop the area and to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare documents for Board meetings and Compensation Committee meetings.
  • Partner with essential corporate functions, including accounting and legal, to provide strategic support and to advise on all aspects of executive compensation.
  • Responsible for the execution of the various pay plans including short term and long-term incentive programs (PSUs / RSUs etc.) and policies.
  • Develop competitive compensation structures using relevant market data.
  • Manage annual performance review activities.

  • Develop and maintain departmental budgets.
  • Support regulatory activities (e.g., audits, rate cases).
  • Strong understanding of all related governance and accounting implications, manage the development of CD&A agreements and support compilation of information for the annual proxy statements.
  • Manage and develop a team of skilled professionals.

  • Works collaboratively with the Global Rewards team.
  • Manage critical vendors relationships.

Skills and Requirements

Education & Experience Required:
  • Requires BS/BA in Business, HR Management or Finance.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience designing, implementing, and administering compensation programs including Long Term Incentive plans.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Federal and state regulations.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements.
  • Strong vendor management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and ideally SAP / workday experience.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Certifications in HR (Example PHR/SPHR).
  • Strong Compensation background with solid understanding of, administration, compliance, reporting, communication.
  • Experience working with Senior Leadership up to CHRO on Executive compensation matters.
  • Experience preparing presentations for senior and Board level audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to reason through data and make good judgments in applying information.
  • Familiarity with state and federal government legislation and regulations related to compensation.
  • Time management / prioritization demonstrated skills to handle urgent requests.
  • Strong supervisory, influencing, communication, negotiation, presentation, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to readily identify needs and requirements and establish plans and processes to ensure successful results.
  • Must be a team player - setting a professional tone and establishing cooperative partnerships within the Human Resources team, Globally and all levels of the company.
