In this environment of rapid growth, PayPal seeks a Director, Growth Initiatives who will be part of our Blockchain, Crypto and Digital Currencies (BCDC) organization. The Director will work closely with our Product, Marketing, Data and Partner teams to shape strategy and drive initiatives to shepherd the expansion of crypto and blockchain products with the goal of driving adoption, usage, and revenue in a highly competitive and complex industry.

This is a critical and highly visible position in the BCDC organization reporting to the Senior Director of Commercial Operations. The role requires considerable cross-functional collaboration, executive interface, and internal client & stakeholder engagement.

SUMMARY

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify strategies for growth and value creation
  • Develop the appropriate business models, operating models, and capabilities to support this strategic vision
  • Direct the creation of data-driven business cases and growth proposals
  • Own cross-functional projects in partnership with product, data intelligence, marketing analytics, and customer insights to create and implement new experiences that drive incremental growth
  • Define and drive an integrated growth model that acts as the backbone of our strategic approach to growth
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and develop integrated strategies across multiple business lines and revenue drivers to achieve advantage
  • Manage and lead the development of reporting to manage day-to-day efforts as well as executive reporting for Management
  • Drive and maintain market intelligence and research critical to adoption and usage growth in the industry, including competitive pricing, rules, industry dynamics, and general competitive landscape in a quickly evolving environment
  • Execute and assess pilot effectiveness by monitoring defined KPIs and determine how to refine and scale
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders

IDEAL EXPERIENCE
  • 10-12 years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD)
  • Product knowledge inside the crypto and blockchain ecosystem a plus
  • Ability to lead strategy development and coordination across multiple teams and business units
  • Proactive and effective communicator (written, presentation and verbal), experienced in presenting information to all levels and with ability to facilitate large group discussions (internal and external), influence, and drive executive alignment
  • Strong accountability, attention to detail and poise while handling complex situations with multiple workstreams and internal/external stakeholders
  • Deep analytical rigor (qualitative and quantitative fluency) and data-driven decision making
  • Experience working in a large cross-functional and matrixed team, expert at cross-functional collaboration and engagement
  • Self-starter who is comfortable in ambiguous environments with undefined and highly complex problems
  • Deep curiosity about what is happening now, and what is happening next in the industry
  • Ability to develop and mentor junior talent
