As we look towards scaling up this platform to support and grow our customer base around the globe, we're looking for an experienced Global Payroll Operations Manager. This key hire will be a part of our Finance team and have responsibility for a team of five and will report to the controller.
Responsibilities

How Will You Contribute to the Company?

Under minimal supervision, the Global Payroll Operations Sr. Manager/Director will report to the Corporate Controller and oversee the payroll and T&E staff accountants in the department. It is this person's job to ensure international payroll, T&E, and benefits follow the Company's accounting policies. This person will manage, and review month end processes related to payroll journal entries, accruals, T&E analytics, and benefits billings and Payroll account reconciliations. This job requires some knowledge of international payroll tax and social regulations, commissions, accounting principles and practices, familiarity with general ledger coding and financial statements, the ability to establish and communicate accounting processes and procedures, and knowledge of global tax and labor laws. Payroll system implementation experience is highly desired. Experience with ADP WorkforceNow and Workday is highly desired.

What Will You Do?

  • Manages a global team of payroll accountants and consultants, and oversees the payroll function to ensure all employees are paid accurately (bi-weekly and monthly), correctly, and on time in a completely compliant overall payroll environment through partnering with compliance, treasury, tax, HR and finance teams.
  • Implements process improvements and automation to simplify manual workflow
  • Partners with HR to review the annual benefits program to ensure the program remains within the parameters of the budget.
  • Manages the T&E policy, SAP Concur, and works with the team to ensure submissions are compliant with the Company policy.
  • Works with the accounting and finance teams to manage the month-end close processes.
  • Establishes departmental work processes and maintains written policies and procedures.
  • Supervises staff accountants; ensures a competent, motivated team through training, development, counseling, and reviewing the performance of employees.
  • Constantly evaluates the workload and processes performed by the accounting staff to ensure processes are effective and efficient.
  • Reviews and approves monthly journal entries and reconciliations prepared by accounting staff for adequate supporting documentation and compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
  • Plans, coordinates, and works directly with an external accounting firm on all 401K audits and 5500 tax compliance preparation.
  • Communicates cross-functionally with senior leaders to ensure international compliance when hiring employees/contractors in local and foreign countries.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10+ years' work experience with demonstrated achievement and leadership in Global Payroll, and Benefits Administration including experience with one or more payroll systems and related tools such as time keeping systems, ADP WorkforceNow, and Workday experience highly desired.
  • Deep and current knowledge of Global Payroll Legislation, specifically in North America, APAC, and EMEA.
  • Knowledge of financial processes involving payroll: legal regulations, tax reporting regulations, interactions with general ledger, and reconciliation processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard accounting systems and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • High degree of computer literacy and skills in specialized software related to department operations including ERP accounting systems, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of staff management including hiring, supervising, assigning work, and managing performance.
  • Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide for their professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, and address employee relations appropriately.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and develop an assigned team to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by senior management, and/or employees.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing work priorities and meet the required deadline.
  • Ability to act and operate independently and as part of a team with minimal daily direction from Finance Leaders to accomplish objectives and solve a wide range of business problems.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees including team members, management, and external entities to maximize performance and solve problems.
  • Experience in managing third party providers
  • Bachelor's in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance
