Job Description

Reporting to the VP, Finance, this position provides analytical and reporting support to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), COO/CFO, VP of Finance and Executive Director, FP&A. The Director, Financial Reporting & Executive Support is expected to generate value added analytics and insights, be responsible for preparation of executive level presentations of results and forecasts on recurring and ad hoc basis. The role will also provide business partnering support and consultation to assigned functional areas across the organization and support senior level Functional leaders in developing forecasts, managing budgets, and understanding their results. In addition, the role will also support pre-clinical business development initiatives, including financial analyses of opportunities, monitoring and tracking of commitments and spend, and working closely with US Controllers team on accounting treatment.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Use financial analyses, data visualization tools combined with executive communication and business acumen to analyze, present, and communicate financial performance, results, and forecasts:

Develops executive messaging, create materials, and deliver executive level presentations for reviews with the US Executive Team and Board of Directors Prepares presentations for US Executives to Japan leadership including monthly reporting to Otsuka Holdings leadership Helps to drive the value-mindset at Otsuka through use of Financial data and analyses highlighting potential scenarios, options these, and the related financial implications to ensure decisions contemplate a total cost of ownership view of the project / initiative.
  • Business lead for Financial Reporting and functional partner with IT on decisions impacting Reporting tools including new SAP suite.
  • Lead Finance team in driving reporting excellence and vision throughout Finance organization including optimization of reporting structures, tools, and leveraging best practices in Management Reporting including self-service models, visualizations, and predictive analytics.
  • Lead key Finance initiatives, including Project Prioritization / Zero Based Budgeting and other enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Support functional leaders in delivering their financial commitments - act in financial advisory capacity, create monthly reports of results and variances:
    • Coordinate and develop budgets, forecasts, and long-term plans per the Financial Planning Calendar
    • Understand key drivers of performance and identify opportunities for performance improvements.


Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, Education, and Experience
  • BS in Finance or Accounting (Required)
  • MBA, CPA or CMA (Required),
  • 15+ years of pharmaceutical or life science industry experience (Required)
  • Public accounting experience a plus
  • 5+ years experience supporting Executive Management with financial analysis, reporting and decision support.
  • Strong executive communication skills, ability to take complex financial information and create financial 'stories' that the business can understand and make decisions / act on
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to translate executive needs for information into actionable reporting and analyses.
  • Strong project and process management skills and ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Strong experience with SAP required and ability to synthesize ERP structure with management reporting and analytical needs
  • Deep understanding of financial reporting (SAC, AFO or similar multi-dimensional reporting tools) and planning systems (Anaplan), data visualization applications (Power BI) and databases
  • Mastery of MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work, and communicate complex issues to senior management verbally, in writing, and through presentations.
  • Ability to organize data and synthesize disparate materials from different sources into cohesive information and presentations.
  • Well-rounded communication and interpersonal skills to represent Finance on various project teams and initiatives
