Role Overview

As Compensation Director, you will be responsible for leading the Compensation team and the overall design, implementation, and execution of enterprise-wide compensation plans. You will manage a team that includes four Compensation Consultants.

We're looking for an engaging leader who can encourage the team to work in partnership with a variety of teams including HRIS, Commissions, Leadership and many other groups.

You will act as consultant to HR Business Partners and business leaders by providing recommendations on compensation matters and anticipating needs while ensuring a consistent application of the compensation methodologies that align to business objectives and company policies. You'll also focus your efforts on developing and implementing best practices, process improvements and efficiencies in compensation.

Role Specifics

More specifically, and in addition to the responsibilities described above, as Compensation Director, you will:
  • Provide leadership and expertise on all matters relating to compensation plans.
  • Serve as a team leader / motivator and also a contributor who can work independently to support the needs of the business.
  • Focus on the development of your team including performance management, employee engagement and more.
  • Lead the administration and execution of all compensation programs including merit, and compensation and bonus planning.
  • Provide compensation analysis and support enterprise wide using market and internal data.
  • Develop consistent and comprehensive processes for pricing and range management.
  • Provide input to, and review, data quality and integrity of job profile setups; research issues and make recommendations in order to maintain structure and accuracy.
  • Create and maintain the job offer approval matrix and other tracking files used for reporting purposes.
  • Determine budgetary impact of compensation decisions.
  • Prepare for, and participate in, compensation plan design meetings.
  • Participate in the administration of executive compensation programs and related activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of the proxy materials (CDA& and tables).
  • Partner with the VP Total Rewards in handling Board material preparation.
  • Work with the HRIS team to ensure HRIS meets compensation team needs and is updated to reflect current salary structures, bonus & commission programs.
  • Support the design, modeling and an enterprise wide view for the commission and compensation teams in the design, support and analysis of variable incentive programs.
  • Maintain policies and processes of the compensation team.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as advised.

The Ideal Candidate

To be a good fit for the Director Compensation Consultant opportunity, you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree in HR, Finance or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in compensation, HR, financial analysis or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience with the design, development, administration, maintenance and execution of compensation programs and the ability to serve as a subject matter authority within the field of comp.
  • At least 3 years of shown leadership experience.
  • Solid initiative and the ability to achieve goals independently as an individual contributor.
  • Strong understanding of various related laws and regulations including FLSA, Equal Pay, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.
  • Experience in mid-market or enterprise organizations.
  • Experience supporting corporate and sales organizations.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience with analytical tools such as MS Excel and HRIS applications; experience using Workday is a plus.
  • The ability to serve as a strategic business partner including the ability to engage optimally with business leaders, including probing for information and pushing back as vital.
  • The ability to "compartmentalize" and lead multiple projects, activities and priorities.
We anticipate that you may need to travel about 2 to 3 times a year to support the needs of the business and/or attend meetings and other events.

Pay Rate
$153,500 - $182,500 Salary
Final pay rate is dependent on experience, training, education, and location.
