MICHELIN RACEWAY ROAD ATLANTA

Recognized as one of the world's best road courses, Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is a 2.54-mile road course situated in the rolling hills 35 minutes north of Atlanta. The multi-purpose facility hosts the 10-hour Petit Le Mans race that closes out the IMSA schedule and is the final of the four endurance races contested by the series. The track prides itself on a family-friendly atmosphere, with a "Kids 12 & Under Are Always Free" policy.

Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Director of Accounting based in our Braselton, Georgia office.

This person is responsible for providing financial leadership primarily for Road Atlanta Raceway and support for other racetracks as needed. Responsible for accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee customer billings to ensure invoiced timely and accurately.
  • Supports the Track President and cost center managers in identifying opportunities for increased profitability and utilization of assets.
  • Works closely with the Corporate Finance team to meet company financial objectives.
  • Responsible for the month-end close process to ensure all transactions are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare all month-end account reconciliations and identify necessary adjustments.
  • Review month-end financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
  • Utilize independent thinking skills and learned best practices to analyze financial statements and analysis and compare actual results versus budget/forecast projections. Provide feedback on areas of concern and/or opportunity.
  • Facilitate and/or lead financial updates for leadership meetings related to major events and business planning functions.
  • Comply with all state and local government regulations and taxing authorities. Submit monthly sales tax reports and yearly personal property tax returns.
  • Perform business analysis and provide recommendations for revenue opportunities and cost efficiencies.
  • Coordinate the development of budgets and forecasts with cost center managers and Track President.
  • Provide actionable reporting and insight to business leaders.
  • Event operations such as overseeing and maintaining safeguards over cash and event reconciliations.
  • Provide support for business processes that integrate directly with accounting functions including ticketing and corporate sales systems.
  • Collaborate with other financial leaders within the organization on new initiatives and process improvements related to accounting and financial analysis.
  • Special projects, as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises assigned staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Required skills/experience:
  • Degree in Accounting from an accredited university with at least five years accounting related experience.
  • Must demonstrate a clear understanding and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as well as financial analysis.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Proficient on Company-provided hardware and software.
  • Experience with accounting and/or financial reporting systems - Workday or Adaptive experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products with advance knowledge of excel required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CMA preferred or similar certification.
  • In addition to the skills listed above, must have strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Must have strong experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis/modeling.
  • A reasonable understanding of internal controls related to cash management.
  • Strong organizational, and time management skills are required with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to communicate with management at all levels by building and maintaining working relationships with business personnel and other finance groups.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude and work ethic.
  • The position will be required to work overtime as needed, to meet the objectives of the position and the department.
  • Some travel is required to travel to attend financial leadership meetings and major events at other facilities. The percentage of travel time is estimated to not be more than 5%.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to top management and resolve issues.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to provide training sessions and presentations within the department, external to the department and members of management.
  • Ability to speak effectively in nontechnical language to employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strong analytical skills and reasoning ability is required. Ability to identify accounting problems and generate reasonable solutions.
