Job Description

Position Overview

The System Design and Implementation Group is looking for a Product Line Manager. This person will participate in New Product Development cycle within SubCom and will eventually be responsible for leading one or more product lines. This person will report to the Director of PLM and System Engineering within the Customer Solutions organization within SubCom, and will collaborate with people from research, development, sales, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • In general, manage the lifecycle of SubCom products for undersea cable systems, from new product introduction through to the end of life process.
  • Interact with customers, sales personnel, and internal developers to determine high-level functional requirements of new products, and manage the resulting requirements documentation.
  • Participate in the product development process with the development teams.
  • Develop business cases, project cost estimates and product cost estimates for proposed products.
  • Develop and maintain product-related materials for customer interactions and interact with customers to deliver those presentations.
Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Engineering or closely related field required. Additional PH.D and law degrees are welcome.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Experience in a related technical area such as optical fiber transmission, undersea cable, high voltage electrical power system, terminal data transmission equipment, software for network control preferred.
  • A background in business case analysis preferred
  • Experience in the product manufacturing process preferred
  • Familiarity with the ISO process preferred
