Job Summary:

The Department of Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in archaeology beginning Fall 2022. Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) preferred; Instructor (ABD or foreign equivalent) or Associate Professor possible. Research and teaching interests are open to any area in the subfield. We are particularly interested in candidates who have competency in statistical methods and who may incorporate students from a variety of backgrounds into their research. Teaching areas will include an introductory course that incorporates the four-fields of American anthropology (i.e. biological anthropology, archaeology, cultural anthropology, and linguistic anthropology) through the exploration of some topic (such as adaptation, kinship, childhood, migration, etc.), archaeological methods, and intermediate courses and seminars in archaeology. The teaching load is five courses over two semesters; periodically one course will be Tutorial (a topical writing/critical thinking course for first-year students, the only College-wide requirement beyond the completion of a major in an individually-advised curriculum).
