The Demand Planner will work within the Demand Planning team to deliver a well thought out, most accurate, unbiased, and unconstrained forecast. Forecasts are to be developed utilizing sales history and habits, promotion, market data, product categorization, and statistical models. Demand Planner will be responsible to implement business insights to a data driven forecast. The Demand Planner's focus is to improve KPIs such as fill rates, inventory days on hand, and reduction of waste/dumps. This role is critical to be in constant communication and engagement with suppliers and customers.

Collaborates with Sales, Supply Planning, Category Management, Marketing and Account Management. Analyze data and insight received from different teams and departments in regards to its relevance and impact on the demand forecast.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop Demand Statistical Forecasts at several levels of aggregation (Category Hierarchy down to product level detail), for weekly demand planning functions.
  • Build, maintain, and continue improving demand forecasts using existing tools and systems to create a statistical model with the lowest forecast error rate possible.
  • Work cross-functionally across multiple departments to collect information on promotions, sales/marketing initiatives, category growth and penetration initiatives, market data, and price fluctuations to improve the model and make better educated assumptions.
  • Lead weekly calls with the designated branch and local sales teams around sales strategy, market updates, obsolete and slow inventory, and other areas as assigned.
  • Perform both product and customer segmentation analysis to determine appropriate focus areas.
  • Monitor product detail purchases and sales to create inventory optimization models
  • Assist in the preparation for the recurring Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) meeting cadence and ensure business improvement opportunities are identified for presentation at the monthly Executive Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) review.
  • Engage directly with key Supplier Partners, Supply Planning and Category Management on identified inbound supply opportunities.
  • Help craft Supply Chain strategy and tactics, primarily in the Demand Forecasting space.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; BS in Supply Chain, Operations, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, engineering or related preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain with a focus on Demand disciplines or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise working with Excel (statistical functions, Vlookups, Pivot Tables) and Business Intelligence (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Intermediate MS SQL experience (Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, etc.).
  • Ability to work with large data sets (cleaning, auditing, and formatting data) to conduct thorough and accurate analysis.
  • Strong mathematical background.
  • Preferred experience with Demand Planning software (ie: Anaplan, Logility, Blue Ridge, ForecastPro, Blue Yonder) a plus
  • Preferred industry credentials in Demand Planning (ie: APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which is generally limited to week days but may be subject to evenings or weekends due to project or department needs.
  • Must be able to travel for annual events; < 10% of time.
