Position Overview

Students come to Peru State College dreaming about lives of meaning, fulfillment, and reward. The School of Professional Studies helps them develop skills, knowledge, and strategies to convert those dreams into reality.

The Dean for the School of Professional Studies is the thought leader, the steward, the shepherd, the builder, and the inspirational guide who keeps the School moving toward ambitious goals. The successful candidate will be a successful leader with a strong reputation for professionalism, collaboration, and a collegial, accessible style. They will be able to articulate a genuine commitment to Peru State's open-enrollment mission and our support for students from all backgrounds. They must have a demonstrated passion for engaged learning, a knack for project management, great communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead a dedicated, high-caliber team of faculty and staff.

The School of Professional Studies is the home for the Business Administration, Criminal Justice, and Psychology programs, with 800 students, 17 full-time faculty, and 2 staff in total. Each major is available both on campus and online.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish a vision for the School and facilitate innovation, high-quality educational outcomes, engaged learning, enrollment growth, and student retention; Build and maintain a robust assessment and program-evaluation program and make data-driven decisions for program enhancement; Develop strong working relationships and formal partnerships with a wide variety of internal and external constituencies; Keep informed and facilitate communication regarding activities and relevant trends for disciplines housed in the School and for higher education in general; Meet with and advise existing and prospective students; Recommend, supervise, mentor, evaluate, and formally develop faculty and staff; Manage the department's budget and office procedures; Actively participate in College recruiting efforts and campus events; Foster a collaborative and collegial environment; Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Terminal degree; Ability to provide leadership for faculty in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, and Psychology; Record of effective teaching experience in higher education; Record of scholarly or creative achievement; Demonstrated leadership skills, including budget management; and Experience teaching and/or administering online programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant leadership experience in public and/or higher education; Experience generating and accommodating enrollment growth.
